Asturias has a wealth of testimonies from the last stage of the Palaeolithic, between 35,000 and 9,000 B.C., with the paintings and engravings that can be seen on the walls of some caverns being unmistakeable traces of the existence of groups of hunters and gatherers from the Upper Palaeolithic.
It is a good sample of this type of parietal art in our region, in some cases putting us at the same level as the great European centres of Palaeolithic rupestrian art.

These archaeological remains are examples of the activity of the different prehistoric communities, which slowly became more sedentary societies, as a result of their development and adaptation to the surrounding environment.
